Related Trials
The innovative design and pragmatic features of Dial-Mag have been adopted from related previous large-scale trials including MyTEMP and RESOLVE. Experience gained through these trials has guided the Dial-Mag Trial through conception, design, and implementation, and allowed us to expand our trial population across four provinces.

The MyTEMP Trial
MyTEMP, a pragmatic trial conducted over 4 years in 84 hemodialysis centres across Ontario from 2017 to 2021, tested the effect of randomizing hemodialysis centers to provide:
- a personalized temperature-reduced protocol of 0.5°C to 0.9°C below the patient’s predialysis body temperature vs
- a standard dialysis temperature protocol of 36.5°C.

Resolve
The RESOLVE trial is an ongoing collaboration with The George Institute for Global Health in Australia. This multi-national trial involves more than 300 hemodialysis centres worldwide, and investigates whether treatment with a dialysate sodium concentration of 137 mmol/L, rather than 140 mmol/L, reduces cardiovascular events and death in hemodialysis patients.
